What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static code has the web address written into the pattern, so it can never change. A dynamic code holds a short link that redirects, so you can change the destination after printing and see how many people scanned it. The link shortener here makes the dynamic kind; the other generators make static codes.
Do static link QR codes expire?
No. A static code keeps working as long as the page it points to exists. If the site moves or the address changes, the code will open the old address.
Can I track how many people scan my code?
Only with a dynamic code, because the scan has to pass through a redirect to be counted. For static codes, add UTM tags to the link with the UTM builder and read the visits in your own analytics.
Why keep the link short?
A shorter link means fewer modules in the pattern. Fewer modules means bigger squares at the same print size, which scans faster and from further away.
