Can I make my own EAN or UPC barcode for a product?
You can generate the barcode image for any number here. To sell in most retail stores the number itself must be licensed from GS1, so it is unique to your company.
What is the difference between a barcode and a 2D code?
A linear barcode stores a short number in one row of bars. A 2D code such as QR, Data Matrix or Aztec stores much more data in a grid and can still be read when part of it is damaged.
What is a GS1 Digital Link QR code?
A QR code that holds a web address with the product's GTIN in it. Checkout scanners can read the product number and phones open a web page, so one code can replace the barcode and the marketing QR code.
Which format should I print?
Use a vector format like SVG or PDF for print so the bars stay sharp at any size. Use PNG for screens and quick tests.
