Questions
How does the QR code tester work?+
It decodes your image with the same decoders phones use, then re-reads it under real-world conditions. If it holds up you get a solid verdict; if it only just scrapes through, fragile; if it cannot be read at all, it fails.
Can I test a printed QR code?+
Yes. Take a straight photo in good light and upload it. Photos of prints are the most honest test because they include the paper, the ink and the camera.
Does the tester keep my image?+
No. The file is processed in memory for the check and discarded. Nothing is stored or linked to you.
My code failed. What now?+
The page lists the likely reasons: low contrast, a busy margin, a small export or a stretched image. Fix those and test again, or make a verified code with AriaQR, which runs these tests before it lets you download.
Is this different from scanning it with my phone?+
Your phone scanning it once on a bright screen proves very little. Print is a harder job, and the tester puts the image through real-world conditions instead of hoping.

- QR codeA QR code is a two-dimensional matrix barcode that stores data in a square grid of dark and light modules. DENSO WAVE invented it in 1994, and phone cameras and imaging scanners can read it.
- QR code scannerA QR code scanner is software or hardware that captures an image of a QR code and decodes it. Most phones read QR codes with the built-in camera app, so a separate app is rarely needed.
- How QR codes workA QR code works by turning data into codewords, adding Reed–Solomon error correction, and placing the bits in a grid around fixed patterns that help a camera find, straighten and read it.
- Quiet zoneThe quiet zone is the blank margin around a QR code. The standard asks for four modules of clear space on every side, two for Micro QR, so a scanner can tell where the code begins.
- Finder patternA finder pattern is one of the three large squares in the corners of a QR code. Each is 7 × 7 modules, and together they let a scanner find the code and work out its angle.
- Alignment patternAn alignment pattern is a small 5 × 5 square inside a QR code that helps a scanner correct for bending and perspective. It appears from version 2, and larger versions have more of them.
