Which barcodes can it read?+
EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, ISBN, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF and ITF-14, Codabar, GS1 DataBar, QR, Micro QR, rMQR, Data Matrix, Aztec, PDF417 and MaxiCode. One image can hold several codes.
Is my image or camera sent anywhere?+
No. The decoder runs inside this page, on your device. Photos and camera frames are never uploaded or stored.
Why can it not find my barcode?+
Most failures are blur, glare, a code that is too small in the photo, or a cropped quiet zone. Get closer, hold the code flat, add light, and keep the whole code in view. Long 1D barcodes read best held level. MaxiCode reads best when the photo shows just that one code.
What are the GS1 fields?+
GS1 barcodes carry numbered Application Identifiers, such as (01) for the GTIN, (17) for expiry and (10) for the batch. The scanner splits them into labeled rows.
Is it safe to open a link it finds?+
Read the whole address first. The scanner shows the link but does not open it for you; if you are unsure, run it through the QR code safety checker.

- QR code scannerA QR code scanner is software or hardware that captures an image of a QR code and decodes it. Most phones read QR codes with the built-in camera app, so a separate app is rarely needed.
- Data MatrixA Data Matrix is a square or rectangular 2D barcode with a solid L-shaped border on two sides and a dotted clock track on the other two. It is defined in ISO/IEC 16022.
- GS1 DataMatrixA GS1 DataMatrix is a Data Matrix code that starts with the FNC1 character and carries GS1 Application Identifiers such as GTIN, expiry date, batch and serial number.
- Aztec codeAn Aztec code is a square 2D barcode built around a central bullseye finder pattern. It needs no quiet zone and is widely used on transport tickets and boarding passes.
- PDF417PDF417 is a stacked linear barcode made of 3 to 90 rows of codewords, each 17 modules long with 4 bars and 4 spaces. It is used on US and Canadian driver’s licenses and boarding passes.
- MaxiCodeMaxiCode is a fixed-size 2D barcode about one inch square, made of hexagonal modules around a central bullseye. UPS created it in 1992 for sorting packages at high speed.
