How the payer uses it

They open their Bitcoin wallet and tap Send, then Scan.
The wallet fills in the address, and the amount and label if you set them.
They check the address and fee and confirm. Bitcoin payments cannot be reversed, so the check matters.

Check the details before you print. This code only asks for a payment: the payer’s app shows the address and amount, and nothing is sent until they confirm it. Scan it once with your own app to be sure it points to you.

Questions

Which addresses are supported?+

Native segwit (bc1q), Taproot (bc1p), and the older 1 and 3 addresses. The Bech32, Bech32m or base58check checksum is verified, which catches almost every typo.

Can this page tell whether an address is mine?+

No. A valid checksum only proves the address is well formed. Always copy it from your own wallet and compare the first and last characters.

Should I put an amount in the code?+

For a one-off request, yes. For a printed sign, usually not: the BTC price of goods changes with the exchange rate, so let the payer enter it.

Is the message stored on the blockchain?+

No. The label and message are only shown in the payer's wallet. The blockchain records the address and amount.

Can a scan send my bitcoin to someone?+

No. The code only asks for a payment. The payer's wallet shows the address and amount, and nothing is sent until they confirm.
