Hovercode is a clean, developer-friendly dynamic QR and short link tool. AriaQR shares the dynamic-link idea and adds two things Hovercode does not aim for: the code is made from your picture, and every code is verified on real decoders before you download it. Here is how they compare.
What is Hovercode?
Hovercode is widely known as a simple tool for dynamic QR codes and trackable short links. In general terms, it offers editable destinations, scan tracking, a few design options including colors and a logo, team features, and an API for creating codes programmatically. It is positioned as uncomplicated and quick, and it is. Check their site for the current feature set and pricing.
What does AriaQR do differently?
AriaQR makes the image the code. A logo, a photo or an illustration becomes the code itself, with the dots inside the picture and the eyes and margins translucent. "Code in your image" places a code inside a larger poster or photograph. Every code is verified on real decoders under real-world conditions before download, and only a passing code is delivered.
Like Hovercode, AriaQR codes carry a short link, so the destination can change after printing and every scan is tracked. The analytics need no cookies and include placements for comparing several codes in one campaign.

Which one is better for developers?
Both have an API. Hovercode's is generally known as a simple way to create dynamic codes and links from code. AriaQR's REST API takes an image URL and a destination and returns a verified picture code, with endpoints to read analytics and change destinations. The MCP server exposes the same to AI agents, so an assistant can create, list and update codes in a workflow. Both come with the quarter plan; docs are on the developers page.
The difference is what comes back. Hovercode returns a standard code quickly. AriaQR returns artwork that has already been decoded under print conditions, which takes a few seconds longer and removes the reprint risk.
How does the analytics compare?
Both track scans on dynamic codes. AriaQR adds unique visitors without cookies, hour-of-day heatmaps, device and OS, in-app browser detection, city-level location, a map, placements per campaign, CSV export, daily link-health checks and alerts by email or webhook. Hovercode provides tracking in its dashboard; depth depends on the plan.
What about teams?
Both have them. Hovercode is generally known to offer team features. On AriaQR, teams are shared workspaces: create one per client or per studio, invite colleagues by email, and everyone on the team sees every code made in it, with activations drawn from the team owner's plan. Placements separate campaigns inside a team, and bulk upload on the account page makes a whole campaign's codes at once.
Who should choose which?
Choose Hovercode if you want a simple dynamic-link tool with team features and a standard-looking code.
Choose AriaQR if the code should be the picture, if it must scan in print the first time, and if you want the same dynamic links and richer, cookie-free analytics, plus an API and MCP server for automation. Generating is free; you pay only to download a verified code.
